Super Bowl XL comes to Detroit

What an exciting way to start the week by meeting Chris Berman from ESPN. Nancy and I headed into Detroit this past Sunday to see what is going on before all the craziness started. We began our trip into the Ren Cen downtown. As we had seen, this is the home of all the media outlets for the next week. We arrived just in time to see Chris Berman tape his "Top 10 Plays" of the week and of the year in football. When filming was done we got his autograph. Now that was exciting. Afterwards we walked around the Ren Cen, looked at where everyone will be broadcasting, bought some merchandise, and headed into the Marriott. While there we lived it up like high class and had a drink in the lounge. From there we boarded the People Mover for a trip around town. However, we got off at Grand Circus Park which is at the opposite end of Woodward, where the Winter Blast will be. Nan and I walked down Woodward, looked into some shops, and watched them finished setting up. We stopped at Campus Martius, but the rink was closed. We think they were putting a big Ford emblem into the ice. After that we headed back to the Ren Cen and eventually home. Nancy and I are going with my folks to a Wings game on Wednesday, so we'll have time to walk around some more and we plan to go down on Friday to get our fill of the excitement. So if you haven't made it downtown yet, I highly recommend it.
