End Of January

I still cannot believe that the month is over. It seemed to fly by. But this was a fun-filled weekend that was a nice way to end January.

Saturday morning we went to my mom and dad's house for my sister Ann's 50th Birthday Party. It was great to see the look of surprize on Ann's face when she walked in and realized that it was not a going-away party for my nephew Phillip. The food was excellent, thanks to Mom, Dad, Jane and Phil. And Ann got some terrific gifts and some terrible gag-gifts.

Wedding Dress
Ken and I left right after the gifts were opened so that I could go and try on my wedding dress. I was elated that I still fit in it (winter weight gain is the worst). Mrs. Mercieca has done a wonderful job of cutting off the train and shortening it up. I can't wait until it's complete;y finished. Although I found that the shoes are killers! I may have to find a nice pair of back-ups, just in case I can't go through the day with my beautiful flowery ones.

After the fitting, I went to Ken's grandma's house for a visit and to pick up Ken. We then went for a drive by the Detroit River in Wyandotte and killed a half hour there. From there we made our way to Crystal Gardens for the St. Stan's 50s/60s Dance. Although two couples at our table didn't make it, we had a fun time. Ken and I danced every slow song, in practice for our big day.

We left the dance after 11:00 and drove to downtown Detroit. We wanted to see what they had done to get ready for Super Bowl XL. Although I couldn't care any less about the game, it was nice to see the city lit up and pretty looking. I'll leave it to Ken to talk about Sunday's excursion Downtown.
